DVD 10.5m Fast Response Vessel – Aluminium Rescue RHIB – Design #112C

In many ways this design “evolved” from several older RHIB designs, both smaller and larger. The first two examples of this design were built with a Twin Inboard Diesel/ Waterjet configuration. Technically we are talking two different boats here as one was built with an open-back Hardtop/Cuddy Cabin. The second was an open boat with a Forward Console/Targa Top and is therefore identified as design #112D and shown elsewhere on our site.

This 10.5m design, as with many of our other RHIB’s was originally conceived and built as a rescue vessel, but not for the NZ Coastguard. The first two built have been in service since 2014. The renders above show a new version of this design, with triple outboards in place of the inboard diesel/jet configuration. By removing the inboard diesel housing the aft cockpit becomes huge, thereby facilitating rescue or other types of operations ie. diving, passenger carrying etc. This boat will get you there quickly and efficiently and then get the job done.

Originally design with an open-back Hard Top it will easily be possible to enclose the pilothouse with an aft bulkhead. ISO Cat B will then be achievable. Overall we feel that this design has benefitted from all of the collective wisdom gained from the 15 years of RHIB design. This is a great boat, very capable in both configurations and suitable for multiple roles in addition to the current utilisation as a rescue vessel. With some updates and re-styling this hull could also be a perfect leisure boat or superyacht tender.

The Spec’s for the different power configurations of this design are as shown. In line with all our previous RHIB designs this one also benefits from a rugged marine-grade aluminium alloy hull structure, which is pretty much the material of choice, worldwide, for vessels of this type and utilisation. Scantlings exceed the minimums required by ISO and other classification societies.

Furthermore this vessel will comply with ISO and various national maritime authorities with regard to stability and buoyancy, quick-draining recesses, watertightness etc, etc.

In summary this design has been described by a client as “the best one yet”! Need we say more!
